but if you are from out of state, check with your DMV first to make sure
this class is recognized in your state.

THE INSURANCE DISCOUNT
Complete the Defensive Driving Course(DDC) and become eligible for the
following motor vehicle insurance discounts, each year, for 3 years:
***A 10% discount on collision premiums
*** A 10% discount on liability premiums including:
property damage, bodily injury and personal injury protection
YOUR 3-YEAR DISCOUNT WILL APPLY TO ALL VEHICLES FOR WHICH YOU
ARE LISTED ON THE POLICY AS PRINCIPAL OPERATOR, INCLUDING:
automobiles, trucks, recreational vehicles, motorcycles.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Youthful drivers, experienced drivers, mature drivers, assigned risk and
some
commercial policies.
THE POINT REDUCTION
4 Points will automatically be deducted from the total on your driving
record, if you
have incurred violations during the 18 mo. period prior to completing
DDC. The violation will still remain on your record.
WHAT IS DEFENSIVE DRIVING?
A 6 hour multi-media accident prevention class.
Call your agent/broker for eligibility and details.
Plenty of free parking.

THE POINT REDUCTION CAN BE TAKEN ONCE EVERY 18 MONTHS.
Note:
Persons are eligible once in 18 months for point reduction.
Points which are reduced remain on a motorist's record,
but are not counted by the DMV in determining further administrative
actions against the license.
Point reduction does not affect mandatory action such as license revocation for 3 speeding tickets within 18 months.
Point reduction does not affect suspensions or revocations already in place.
The person completing the course must be the principal operator of the vehicle
in order to be eligible for insurance reduction.

You have 30 days from the day you start to complete the class.

DISADVANTAGES
The D.M.V. requires that all online classes provide an exam
which must be passed. The exams are fairly easy and you can
take them as many times as you need at no extra cost to pass
the class.
Classroom DDC classes do not require a test.
There is no student to student interaction which can be helpful
in understanding other drivers and attitudes.
It is recommended
that you attend a classroom program if possible.
Only take the NY certified class. If you take any other online
class you may not receive certification.
